The Youth and Child Tutoring (YCT) is a community program delivered by the Immigrants Employment and Career Centre IECC / Centre d'emploi et de carrière pour immigrants CECI. This program provides free tutoring in various subjects such as Math, Reading, Science, English, French, communication and computer skills to help them succeed when returning to school in September and during the school year. Tutoring is delivered remotely in virtual classroom set up and one-o-one tutoring through Zoom by professional, self-motivated, experienced and verified volunteers.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES
At the end of the program, participants will be able to strengthen their knowledge, enhance positive attitudes toward the subject matter covered, to apply learned knowledge and to independent school work and to improve their academic achievement during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Students would need to register online or with their closest community Halifax Public Library Branch. Consent from parents is required t participate into this program. and provide consent forms signed by parents. Once registered students are booked with volunteers for virtual classroom or one-o-one tutoring. Students who successfully complete the program receive both the certificate of attendance and completion including back-to-school supplies.
